Raymond James Peterson, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away late Friday night, April 28th, 2023 in Olympia, WA while visiting family after a brief battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.

 

Ray was born November 24, 1954 in Ironwood, MI, the son of Raymond J. and Marguerite (Ferguson) Peterson. He grew up in Bergland, MI where he graduated from Bergland High School in 1972.

 

Ray moved to Wisconsin in the late 1970’s with his young family. He began working for Kohler Company in 1978 where he remained for 39 years, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, as well as the UAW local 833.

 

An avid fisherman, Ray also enjoyed turkey hunting, motorcycle and corvette rides with friends, going to concerts, traveling, and history. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he loved; laughing with his daughters, spending time with his grandkids and fur grandkids, and weekend trips to the UP to visit with family and friends. 

 

Ray is survived by his daughters: Chris Peterson of Sheboygan Falls and Becky (Jason) Popp of Siren, WI; grandchildren: Maya and Nathan Katte. He is further survived by siblings: Mary Ann (James) Pizl of Yelm, WA, Margaret Livingston of Hurley, WI, Joseph Peterson of Newton and Jerry Peterson of Sheboygan Falls; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Daniel Peterson and his brother-in-law Richard Livingston.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Wenig Funeral Home, 711 Broadway in Sheboygan Falls.

 

A second time of visitation will be held from 11:00AM-1:00PM EST on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 480 Forest Ave. in Bergland, MI  49910. He will be laid to rest immediately following at Lakeview Cemetery in Bergland.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Ray’s name.
