Roger Niemuth

September 29, 1937 — October 29, 2018

After walking into Sharon Richardson Hospice on his own two feet, Roger Lawrence Niemuth is now at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He fought a great fight, but on October 29th, 2018, Roger was called home.Roger was born September 29th, 1937, in Plymouth Wisconsin. His parents were Louis and Isabela Niemuth. He grew up working the family farm in rural Wisconsin. He attended Sheboygan Central High School, and UW Oshkosh, where he received his Master's degree in Education. On June 11, 1960, he married Dorothy Veldboom. For over 50 years, Roger and Dorothy shared many wonderful adventures, such as their trips to Florida, Las Vegas, Tunica, and many family gatherings. Roger took great care of Dorothy and remained a constant at her side through her illness. He would use his schooling to teach and mentor his 4th and 5th grade students at Wilson Elementary School in Sheboygan for over 30 years. He helped start many after school programs to keep kids safe and out of trouble. Many years later, his students would stop him and tell him what a wonderful teacher he was and how the lessons he taught helped mold them into the people they were today.Roger loved to fish, especially with his family. He got to fish twice this past summer, when his son Troy took him fishing on Lake Winnebago. Roger caught his limit and had a wonderful time.Roger also loved to bowl and could often be found at the local alleys either bowling, or giving support to his friends. He was also an avid card and cribbage player, instilling that love and competitiveness to his children also. The joy of Roger's life, was his family.  He loved being around family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. They would fill his heart with love. He taught his children Todd, Troy and Tanya, many life lessons, such as how to work hard, be prepared, how to invest for the future, have faith in God, and how to enjoy life. One of Roger's greatest gifts, was his ability to open his heart to those in need. He loved helping kids and people succeed. Whether it was helping in after school programs, coaching, being part of the "Dare" program, building wheelchair ramps, giving rides and meals to those in need, Roger was always willing to help. Many people were touched by his generosity, affection and genuine kindness.Roger will be missed by his 3 children, Todd (Gail) Niemuth, Troy Niemuth, and Tanya (Jeremy) DesArmo,  grandchildren Chris (Amanda) Niemuth, Erin (Jory) Stapel, Colleen (Josh) Meulbroek, and Kory Niemuth,  five loving great grandchildren, Brother-in-law Gordon (Helen) Veldboom and many cherished and loved friends. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Dorothy Niemuth, parents Louis and Isabela Niemuth, his brother Richard Niemuth, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Witter.A visitation will be held at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 2313 Saemann Avenue, Sheboygan WI, on Friday November 2nd, at 3:30pm, with funeral to follow at 6:00pm.
