Roy R. Huibregtse, of Cedar Grove, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was 81 years old.
Roy was born December 30, 1944 in Sheboygan to Robert and Gladys (Oosterhous) Huibregtse. He grew up in Cedar Grove, and was a 1963 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. While a freshman, he met the love of his life, Linda Ten Pas. After high school, he went on to study at DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. Roy worked for Sears Roebuck for over 30 years, before starting his own appliance repair business, Affordable Technical Services.
On October 16, 1965, he was united in marriage with Linda Ten Pas at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. The couple shared 60 years together full of love, adventures and memories.
A lifelong member of Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove, Roy served as a Deacon and trustee. In his earlier years, he had been a member of the local snowmobile club, volunteered with the Cedar Grove Fire Department, coached his son’s school basketball teams, and ran the Holland Fest souvenir stand.
For nearly 20 years, Roy and Linda enjoyed wintering out west in their motorhome. Previously, they had spent many weekends at their cabin up north, and traveling with their family. Roy loved hunting, Canada fishing trips, golfing, yardwork, spending time down by the creek, and riding snowmobiles. The pole barn built to house the motorhome became Roy’s home away from home where he could often be found putzing and building.
A wealth of knowledge and natural problem solver, Roy was constantly designing, engineering, and fixing things to improve the world around him. He was always helping others, giving his time and talents, and leaving behind a legacy of teaching and caring for others.
Roy is survived by his wife Linda Huibregtse, and their children: Debbie (Ward) Meinen, Sarah J. Huibregtse, PhD and Mike (Amy Martiny) Huibregtse; 4 grandchildren: Jessica (Marcus) Buehler, Erika (Zach) Kelley, Nora and Brynn Huibregtse; 2 great-grandchildren Carson and Adalyn Buehler; siblings: Ruth Ann (Larry) Wieberdink and Mary (Jeff) Pippert, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Joseph Wisse, parents-in-law Lester and Elizabeth Ten Pas, sister-in-law Everdeen (Keith) Heuver.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Calvary OPC, 136 W. Union Ave. in Cedar Grove. All are welcome to view a livestream of the service on Roy’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 9:00AM-12:00PM.
