Sandra M. Peters

Sandra M. Peters, 87, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Cedar Grove Gardens.

Sandra was born on November 24, 1935, to Melvin and Gertrude (Bimler) Kramer in Sheboygan. She graduated from Central High School in 1954 and went on to obtain a certificate as a sign language interpreter from UW – Madison. Sandra was united in marriage to DeLoyd Peters on September 8, 1956, in Sheboygan Falls. Prior to furthering her education, she was a homemaker until 1974, when she became employed at James Madison School as a sign language interpreter until 1998.

Sandra was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Sheboygan prior to transferring her membership to First Reformed Church in Oostburg. She was also a member of Campus Life and was a Girl Scout leader.  Sandra enjoyed painting and was an avid reader. She was a smart, strong woman who had a strong faith. Sandra’s faith sustained her throughout her life. She taught her daughters they had choices, and it was good to be independent and strong, regardless of what others said.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (Gunther) Peters-Lenhof of San Marcos, California, Ellen (Gregory) Wells of Sheboygan, Julie (Richard Imme) Peters of Sheboygan, Amy (Brad) TenHaken of Oostburg; grandchildren, Michelle Sargent, Eric Sargent, Meghan and Katelin Bridges; great-grandchildren, Skyler Moehning and Calum Sargent. She is further survived by her sisters, Trudi Elben, Leslie (Pat Robinson) Kramer; sister-in-law, Elaine (Peter) Peloquin; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, DeLoyd; great-grandchild, Dylan; brother-in-law, Jack Elben; and sister-in-law, Muriel (Dean) Wing.

A private family service will be held and a public celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to Campus Life in her honor.

Sandra’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Cedar Grove Gardens and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
