Thomas L. Huibregtse, 72, of Sheboygan, went to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Sunny Ridge in Sheboygan.
Tom was born on November 13, 1948 in Sheboygan, WI, to Roland Huibregtse and Patricia (Renskers) Huibregtse.
Tom was a 1967 graduate of Sheboygan South High School and continued his education at Lakeshore Technical Institute. He later served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier, the USS Hancock, from 1969 to 1971 on the South China Sea. Upon returning from his service, he attended the UW Madison Medical School of Radiologic Technology. After graduation, he worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Racine and then returned to his hometown of Sheboygan working at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital from 1980 until his retirement.
Tom married Norene (Wondergem) Huibregtse on November 6, 1971, at Hope Reformed Church in Sheboygan of which he became a member and faithfully served as a Deacon and Elder, Sunday school teacher, and member of the choir for many years. He was a former member of Pine Haven Men’s Chorus, and along with his son, Tim, he was a Special Olympics softball coach.
Tom had a great memory and loved to recall the many wonderful stories of his family’s heritage. He enjoyed fishing, being with others, working hard at his job and even just sitting and watching TV while eating junk food.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Norene Huibregtse of Sheboygan; siblings, Mari Quast of Sheboygan, Kathy (Steve) Landgraf of Sheboygan, Jon (Ellen Zimmerman) Huibregtse of Westborough, MA; four nephews, Rob Landgraf, David Landgraf, Michael Landgraf, Jeff (Kristen) Quast; nieces, Jessica Huibregtse, and Margaret Huibregtse; and great-nieces and nephews Grace Quast, Charlie Quast, and Anna Quast.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Roland & Patricia (Renskers) Huibgretse; his dear son, Tim Huibregtse; nephews, Alex Quast and Brian Quast; and his parents-in-law, Ken & Edith Wondergem.
A private family service to celebrate Tom’s life will take place on Wednesday, July 21st, at Wenig Funeral Home of Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Bill TeWinkle officiating. Tom will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the town of Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name for the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
