Cedar Grove

Ms. Twila Mae Ashe, 72, of Cedar Grove, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

The former Twila Mae Nonhof was born August 22, 1949 in Sheboygan, daughter of Virgil and Delores (Harmelink) Nonhof.

Twila was a past member of First Reformed Church and Calvary OPC Church, where she sang in the choir, was President of the Ladies’ Ruth Circle and enjoyed the adult Sunday school classes.  Twila was the first president of the Cedar Grove Jaycette’s and volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and as a bell ringer.

Upon graduating Cedar Grove High School, Twila attended cosmetology school and was a cosmetologist for many years.  She also worked at Citizens Bank and Piggly Wiggly in Cedar Grove and Allen Edmonds in Lake Church.  After Twila acquired her CDL she drove for Otte Bus, the City of Sheboygan Transit and finally over the road semi for several companies.  Twila retired at the age of 62, giving her time to attend her grandchildrens’ many activities while pursuing interests of her own.  Family and friends were her highest priority, she loved family get-togethers, thrifting with friends, playing games and cards, and visiting with many friends, neighbors and work colleagues.

Survivors include her sons: Andrew (Beth) Wieberdink and Benjamin (Natalie) Wieberdink; grandchildren: Kaitlin, Allison, Jocelyn, Davis, Ross, and Haley; one brother Carl (Kathy) Nonhof; nephews: Nathane (Gwen) Nonhof and Aaron (Kim) Nonhof; long-time companion and caregiver Kirk Baumgart; many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Delores Nonhof as well as an infant grandson, Jarred Wieberdink.

A funeral service celebrating Twila’s life will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, May 22 from 1:00-3:00PM and again on Monday, May 23 from 10:00-11:00AM. She will be laid to rest at Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Twila’s name.

The family would like to thank Kirk for his amazing love and care of our mother, grandmother, and sister.  In addition, the family would like to thank caregivers Jenni and Rachel with Synergy Home Care and Holly and Becca with St. Nicholas Home Hospice, as well as all the aids and therapists for the end of life care provided.
