Warren Heinen

CEDAR GROVE - Four days after his 93rd birthday, God called Warren Jonathon Heinen home on Friday, January 22, 2021. Warren was born on January 17, 1928, in Town of Lima to John and Minnie (nee Daane) Heinen. He was a 1946 graduate of Oostburg High School, and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army from 1950-1952.  On May 23, 1952 he was united in marriage with Carolyn Meerdink in Cedar Grove. She preceded him in death in 2004. On March 17, 2007, Warren married Phyllis Wipperfurth in Sheboygan. For over 30 years, Warren co-owned Cedar Grove Block and Construction. He retired in 1990.  Warren was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, where he served as an elder and deacon, taught Sunday school, participated in mission trips, and was involved with Campus Life. He was a member of Gideons International and the Vander Jagt-DeBruine American Legion, Post #338. For many years, he was involved with Hollandfest, from set up and cleaning the streets, to working the oliebollen stand with Carolyn. A lifelong Cubs fan, he enjoyed camping, traveling, visiting his sons and grandson in the military and above all, spending time with his family.  Warren is survived by his wife, Phyllis Heinen of Cedar Grove; two sons, Michael (Wendy) Heinen of Cedar Grove and Randy (Joy) Heinen of Leming, TX; daughter, Sherry (Richard) Back of Sheboygan Falls; grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Navis, Adam (Michelle) Back, Ryan (Mary) Back, Benjamin (Ashley) Heinen, Jeffrey (Julia) Heinen, Jason (Karla) Heinen and Anna (Eric) Meinnert; 19 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Glenn (Gail) Meerdink of Cedar Grove, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by Phyllis' family, including her children: Jim (Val) Johnson, Jeff (Robin) Johnson, Janet (Mark) Holdmann and Judy (Tom) Mondloch, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Carolyn, grandson Matthew Heinen, siblings: Elmer (Christina) Heinen, Lester (Maude) Heinen, Gordon (Maude) Heinen, Jeanette Heinen and Harriet (Martin) Dekker and sister-in-law Phyllis (John) Joose.A funeral service to celebrate Warren's life will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Faith Reformed Church, 243 S. 4th St. in Cedar Grove with Pastor Zach Tartar officiating. A livestream of the service can be found at wenig.live/WarrenHeinen. A visitation will be held at church on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00AM.
