Wayne E. Schuette, 83, Town of Centerville resident, went to his Lord on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Wayne was born April 30, 1942, son of Walter and Helen (Elliott) Schuette. He graduated from Valders High School in 1962 and went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corp. A proud Veteran, he was a former member of the Cleveland VFW where he served as Post Commander, and a current member of St. Nazianz American Legion.
On January 22, 1966 he was united in marriage with Diana L. Stemper at St. Wendel Catholic Church in Cleveland, WI. As a couple they resided in Cherry Point, North Carolina until Wayne’s discharge from service and then they moved to the Cleveland area. After returning to Cleveland, he began his HVAC apprenticeship with Bob Winters Plumbing and Heating. In 1985 he began his own business, Schuette’s Heating and Air Conditioning Inc., which he passed to his son JR when he retired in 2010.
An active and familiar face in the community, Wayne was a member of the Cleveland Fire Department where he served as Chief in 1988, the Lions Club of Cleveland and Newton, and was the secretary/treasurer of the St. John’s Cemetery Association. Wayne and Diana enjoyed camping, and were members of Good Sam Camping Group for 10 years, where Wayne served as State Director. He enjoyed hunting, farming, watching old westerns (especially Gunsmoke), working with sheet metal and wood, and annual trips to Arizona since 2009.
Wayne is survived by two sons, Scott and Wayne Jr. (Amy); sisters Anna White of Fitchburg, Norma Kumbalek of Two Rivers and Joy Krueger of Manitowoc; special friend Liz Schiel and many family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Diana, brother Dale, brothers-in-law Mathew White, Jim Kumbalek, Bill Krueger and 3 infant sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 12, 2025 with Pastor Steven Wall officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 9:00AM-12:00 noon.
He will be laid to rest beside Diana at St. John's (Kassa Cemetery) in the Town of Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The Wenig Funeral Home – Sheboygan Falls is honored to be assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Please visit wenigfh.com for online condolences.
