Wilhelmina "Minnie" Veldman, 94, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Pine Haven Christian Communities at Giddings Avenue. Wilhelmina "Minnie" Van Wyk was born on July 15, 1923, in Kohler, WI to Peter and Elizabeth (Van Bergeijk) Van Wyk. On April 10, 1946, Wilhelmina "Minnie" married Melvin in Sheboygan Falls. Minnie was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls where she was a member of the Dorcas Society, Ruth Mission Circle, Reformed Church Mission Volunteer in Brewton, AL, Apache, OK, and Dulce, NM. She was also a faithful volunteer at Rocky Knoll, Salvation Army, Red Cross for many years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crocheting and knitting. Perhaps most, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren and serving them her famous chocolate chip cookies. Minnie is survived by her husband of 71 years, Melvin Veldman; five sons, Timothy (Mary) Veldman of Plymouth, Mark (Pattie) Veldman of Plymouth, John (JoAnn) Veldman of Plymouth, Paul (Wanda) Veldman of Pittsville, Thomas (Jackie) Veldman of Town of Mitchell; daughter, Sarah (Leif ) Erickson of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jean Veldman of Plymouth; brother, John Van Wyk of Sheboygan Falls; and three sisters-in-law, Evelyn VanWyk, Catherine VanWyk, and Marion VanWyk. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Van Wyk; daughter, Lois Eischen; son, David Veldman; two sisters, Peternella (Donald) Huibregtse, Claudia (Russell) Bresser; four brothers, William VanWyk, Adrian VanWyk, Andrew VanWyk, Kunert VanWyk; one sister-in-law, Yvonne VanWyk; and a brother-in-law, Howard (Ruth Ann) Veldman.A funeral service to celebrate Minnie's life will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 11am at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Brad Veenendaal officiating. A burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Thursday from 9am until the 11am. A memorial fund is being established in her name for First Reformed Church of Sheboygan Falls and Pine Haven Christian Communities.
