William P. Heinen, 84, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County.
Bill was born to Gerald and Jeanette (Oostdyk) Heinen on September 26, 1940, in Sheboygan. He attended Oostburg Christian School and Oostburg High School.
On October 3, 1958, William was united in marriage to Joan Smies at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan.
In his younger years, he worked as a door to door Fuller Brush salesman and milk man. Bill then went on to work at Sears, in home construction, and sold insurance for many years.
Bill was a member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg where he served as elder. He was a founding member of Men of Harmony and sang with them for many years. Bill enjoyed traveling the country with his wife and children and camping.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Debra (Darrell) Braaksma; two sons, Timothy (Hope) Heinen and Kenneth Heinen; thirteen grandchildren: Robert, Brian (Lauren), Rebecka, Brittany (Jim), Benjamin, Bradley, Amanda (Angel), Kristin (Eric), Zachary, Brandon, Allison, Jacob (Abby) and Joseph; and 10 great-grandchildren: Elaine, Leann, Alena, Santino, Elana, Sofia, Isaac, Royce, Liam, and Mia. He is further survived by his brothers Gerald (Darlene) Heinen, David (Carolyn) Heinen, Richard (Jan) Heinen; sisters Sylvia (Dwight) Ludens, Judy Shufflebotham, Janet (Tom) Walcott; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Joan, son William Gerald Heinen, grandson-in-law Brandon Blom, parents, sister Marcia Sohre, brother-in-law Gary Shufflebotham.
A funeral service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at Bethel OPC on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:30am. He will be laid to rest next to Joan at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 9:00am until the time of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Bill's name to Sheboygan Christian School.
