Yin Kheam Eugene Seow

Yin Kheam Eugene Seow, 86, of Oostburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Eugene was born in Shantou, China on Sept 4, 1936.

His family migrated to Penang, Malaysia when he was four, where he spent his growing years, before moving to Singapore to start his career.

After answering God’s calling to His service, Eugene set out in faith with only three hundred dollars and sailed to Hong Kong where he graduated from the Christian Missionary Alliance Seminary in 1965.  Later in 1984 he also received his Masters in Divinity from Trinity Theological Seminary in Singapore.

Eugene was united in marriage with Bee Wah Ong on July 20, 1968.

Eugene worked in the United Bible Society (Pacific Southeast Asia) for 28 years, during this time he directed the production and publication of bibles in 17 new languages; they were Bibles translated by missionaries who spent decades learning their languages. He was also responsible for the editing and publishing of the first Chinese concordance bible with thumb index. In 1995, the first edition CUNPSS (Chinese Union Version with New Punctuation《新标点和合本》) Bible was compiled and printed on light beige bible paper, in Nanjing Amity Printing Co. Ltd., China. That was the first official production of bibles in China. All contemporary Chinese bibles are based on the type setting he created. Eugene also served as a Pastor/Elder for 50 years, he was a member of the Bethesda Kalong Church in Singapore. He had led 15 individuals to dedicate themselves to full time ministry. Eugene was instrumental in establishing a scholarship for seminary education. Eugene officially retired from full time ministry in 2015.

Eugene and his wife migrated to Wisconsin, USA in 2017 to be with their sons.

In his private life, Eugene was a loving husband and father, a family man. Recently, he was promoted to grandpa, and was seen enjoying Mickey Mouse cartoons and games of kick ball with his grandson. Eugene was a simple and quiet man who looks for beauty and elegance in God’s natural creations. In his pastime, he enjoyed calligraphy, photography, flower arranging and dark chocolate ice cream. But he was most addicted to fishing. The tug is the drug. He caught his last fish on Oct 30, 2022, on Grace Spring, a private pond created for his personal fishing by his godson.

Eugene’s lifelong aspiration was to expand the kingdom of God through the proliferations of bibles in multiples languages.

Eugene will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Eugene is survived by Bee Wah (Mei), his wife of 54 years. He is also survived by his son, Leander (Carrie), Lemuel (Vivian) and grandson Jadon. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Shi Zhou Seow and Yue Peng Xie.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at E-Free Church in Sheboygan on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 6:30pm (CST) / Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 7:30am (Singapore time). All are welcome to join via livestream by visiting wenig.live/EugeneSeow.

萧寅谦长老，于2023年3月18日在亲人的陪伴下蒙主恩召，安返天家。享年86岁。

1936年9月4日，萧长老出生于中国汕头澄海县溪东乡。

他的家人在他四岁时移居马来西亚槟城，在那里度过了他的成长岁月，后来搬到新加坡开始了他的职业生涯。

在回应了上帝的呼召服侍他之后，萧长老只带着三百元出发，航行到香港。1965年萧长老毕业于香港建道神学院、1984年在新加坡三一神学院获得教牧硕士学位

1968年7月20日萧长老与王美华共结良缘。

萧长老在United Bible Society (Pacific Southeast Asia)任职28年。在此期间，他一共编排印刷了17种新语言的圣经的制作和出版;它们是众多传教士翻译的圣经，他们花了几十年的时间学习他们的语言。他还负责编辑和出版第一本中文串珠、指标，以浅米色圣经纸印刷的圣经。1995年，第一版《新标点和合本》圣经在中国南京爱德印刷厂编纂印刷。那是中国第一次正式出版圣经。所有现代出版的中文圣经都是基于他的摆盘设置。萧长老还担任牧师、长老50年，他是新加坡加东福音堂的成员。他前后带领15位年青人献身于全职事工。萧长老在建立神学院教育奖学金方面有很大的贡献。萧长老于2015年正式从全职事工中退休。

萧长老夫妇在2017年移民到美国威斯康星州于两个儿子团聚。

萧长老是一个慈爱的丈夫和父亲，一个顾家的人。最近，他被提升为爷爷，和孙子一起享受米老鼠卡通和踢球游戏。萧长老是一个简单而安静的人；他在上帝的创造中寻找美丽和优雅。闲暇时他喜欢书法、摄影、插花和享受巧克力冰淇淋。但他最喜欢于钓鱼；他喜欢与上钩的鱼展开拉锯战。萧长老于2022 年 10 月 30 日在恩泽泉（Grace Spring）钓到了他的最后一条鱼；恩泽泉是干儿子为他个人钓鱼而建造的私人池塘。

萧长老一生的抱负是是通过多种语言的圣经扩散帝的国度。

所有认识萧长老的人都会很怀念他。

萧长老遗孀美华（结婚54年）、儿子亮典（仪冰）、亮书（英华）和孙子楷杰。父母萧师周（已故）和谢月朋（已故）。
