Adriana J. Rutz

Adriana Rutz, of Oostburg, drew her last breath while embraced by her loving family and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of November 18, 2021. We rejoice that she has been released from the bonds of a broken earth and has arrived safely in her eternal home.

Adriana was born in the Netherlands and emigrated to Wisconsin in 1950 with her parents Gerald and Sara Joosse and younger brothers. The family became American citizens in 1955. She married John Rutz and they celebrated 60 happy years together. They were blessed with two children, Lori (the late Robert) Grether, Derek Rutz, and granddaughter Sara Grether.

She graduated from Lakeland College and taught middle school students in Sheboygan. Adriana's greatest joy in life was the personal relationship that all of her immediate family have with Jesus Christ. The family's life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Her testimony verse was Acts 16:31, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.”

She enjoyed caring for their family, helping others, participating in Bible studies, growing orchids, and gardening. She also wrote about her Dutch heritage, the hardships her own family experienced during WW II in Holland, as well as remembrances of the bravery and suffering of her parents' families.

In addition to her immediate family, Adriana is survived by three brothers: John (Stacey) Joosse, Peter (Laura) Joosse, and William (Jeannette) Joosse; also her Aunt Jos Nieuwstraten, and many nieces and nephews in Holland.

A private memorial service was held at Living Hope Bible Church in Oostburg. Adriana was laid to rest at Presbyterian Cemetery in the Town of Holland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to VCY America, Inc. at 3434 Kilbourn Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53208, a Christian radio station.

Adriana’s family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The staff at Wenig Funeral Home assisted the family.
