Carol Jensema

Carol June Jensema, 91, of Oostburg, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Pine Haven Christian Home – Giddings.

Carol was born on September 10, 1930, in the Town of Lima, the daughter of the late Wallace and Florence (Kooman) Veenendaal. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1948. On June 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Roland Jensema in Gibbsville. Carol and Roland owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Lima from 1951 until 1973.

Carol was a lifelong member at Gibbsville Reformed Church, where she enjoyed being a part of Bethany Circle and Bible Study. She loved cooking and hosting others at her home. Carol enjoyed playing cards, golf, counted cross stitch, and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be dearly missed.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Faye (Phil) Mentink of Oostburg and Bonnie (Scott) Ongna of Gibbsville; two sons, Gary (Jane) Jensema of Gibbsville and Phil (Sue) Jensema of Hingham; 14 grandchildren, Adam (Kasy), Tyler (Cassie), and Travis (Megan) Mentink, Jamie (Jay) Hubbard, Nate (Cassie) Ongna, Stephanie (Mike) Brasser, Jackie (AJ) Laganowski, Todd (Christy) Jensema, Sally (Brian) Willoughby, Paul (April) Jensema, Jennifer (Lance) Wulf, Jessica (Chris) TenHaken, Elissa (Paul) Retkowski, Jessica (Kevin) Dekker; 38 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by sister, Beverly (Dennis) Diener; brother-in-law, Wayne Reimes; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, parents, and siblings.

A private funeral service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson.
