Marianne MacDonald

Marianne (Ketelsen) MacDonald, 83, of Rhinelander and formerly of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday July 23, 2020.

Marianne was born on January 6, 1937 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Carsten P. and Anneliese (Hannemann) Ketelsen. On November 27, 1954, she was united in marriage to Stanley H. MacDonald in Milwaukee.

Marianne was active in her church as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and vocal soloist. She was an accomplished mother, wife, and homemaker for many years.  She raised her three children, supported her husband’s career as a master electrician, endured the construction of two homesteads in her early married life, enjoyed traveling in the early years, in a pickup camper and graduated to a 28’ motorhome that was cared for by her extremely handy electrician husband. She enjoyed preparing sumptuous holiday meals for her entire family. As her children entered school, she worked in customer service for the Miracle Maid division of the West Bend Co.

Marianne enjoyed the company of her Red Hat Society friends and being a grandmother in her senior years. She was an avid reader, attending Memories Dinner Theater and the Fireside Restaurant. She enjoyed travelling with her senior friend group from the West Bend Co.

Those Marianne leaves behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Valind of Sheboygan and Sherry (Randy) Fechter of Harshaw; ten grandchildren, Joseph (Jessica) Valind of West Bend,  Anneliese McDowell of Sheboygan, Alison (Billy) Brown of Nashville, TN,  Nicholas Valind of West Bend, Gabriel Valind,  Olivia Valind, Emma Valind, all of Sheboygan, Melissa Mason of Tomahawk, and Elizabeth Merida of Appleton; 15 great grandchildren, Isabelle, Madelyn, Leah, Aaron Valind, Lydia, Grace, Caleb, Ava, Sophia McDowell, Charlotte Brown, Grayson Valind, Aliannah, Asavari, Ariella, and Ozias Mason, two sisters-in-law Carol (Bill) Jach and Paula  MacDonald; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley H. MacDonald, her son, Stanley A. MacDonald, a great granddaughter, Samantha McDowell; a sister, Arlene (Ketelsen) Burghardt; and her brother-in-law, Dick MacDonald.

In lieu of flowers, please make monetary gifts to Marianne’s church, Northwoods Vineyard Church in Tomahawk, WI.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, July 30th from 4-5 pm. A memorial service will follow at 5 pm with the Rev. Randall MacDonald officiating.
