Mary Hilbelink

Mary L. Hilbelink passed away peacefully September 11, 2021. She was 80 years old.

Mary was born October 4, 1940 in Sheboygan, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Rosenstein) Katte. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1958.

On October 30, 1959 she was united in marriage to Orville Hilbelink at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death in 2019.

Mary worked at Allen-Edmonds Shoe Factory in Lake Church, Tolibia Cheese in Oostburg for over 25 years, and later babysat.

She was a faithful member of Oostburg Christian Reformed Church for many years where she was a volunteer of the Friendship Club. After moving to Sheboygan in 1997, Mary and Orville became members of Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church where she was involved in the Awana ministry, Life Group, Sunshine Group and Hospitality ministry. She was also involved with the International Foreign Students at Lakeland University. She loved flowers and enjoyed thrifting, playing cards, dominos, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children: Cindy (Craig) Seider of Sheboygan and Kevin (Karen) Hilbelink, of Howards Grove. She is further survived by eight grandchildren: Jenifer (Nathan) Wagner, Jamie (Alistar) Faul, Krystina (Brandon) Welch, Joshua (Chloe) Seider, Matthew Seider, Kaitlyn (Cody) Weber, Abby Hilbelink and Emily Hilbelink; great-grandchildren: Averi, Aiden and Alexis Wagner, Elijah and Elaina Faul, Ezekiel and Elizabeth Welch and Regan Weber; brothers: Richard (Lorraine) Katte, Kenneth Katte, and Daniel “Chuck” (Linda) Katte; sisters Janice Katte and Sandy (Richard) Brill; brothers-in-law Harley (Jeanne) Hilbelink, Leslie (Bonnie) Hilbelink and Galen (Laura) Hilbelink; sisters-in-law Marion Rismeyer, Doris (Herbert) Neils, Rosemarie Hilbelink and Shirley Hilbelink; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald (Marlys) Hilbelink, Clarence (Marcia) Hilbelink and Clifford Rismeyer.

A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00AM at Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, 1710 N. 15th St. All are welcome to join a livestream of the service at wenig.live/MaryHilbelink .   The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 9:00-11:00AM. Masking is optional. Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Sheboygan.

A memorial fund is being established in her name for Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church and Campus Life of Sheboygan.
