Mary Schleicher

Mary Alice Schleicher, 89, passed away Sunday evening, June 6, 2021 at Pine Haven. Mary was born December 15, 1931 in the town of Calumet, the daughter of Ambrose and Esther (nee Andrew) Schmitz. She attended Marytown School, and on November 18, 1953, she was united in marriage with Ralph Schleicher in Marytown. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Mary Alice was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, where she was active with the funeral luncheon committee as well as the St. Vincent DePaul Rural Conference. Formerly, she had belonged to St. George Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, flowers, playing cards, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and had been an active volunteer at Sheboygan County Comprehensive Health Care Center, Rocky Knoll and Pine Haven. She was an active community volunteer, but her faith and family were the most important to her.

Mary Alice is survived by her daughter, Christine (Michael) Neuburg of Grafton and eight sons: David (Nancy) of Sheboygan Falls, Michael (Ellen) of Sheboygan Falls, Steven of Grafton, John (Barb) of Germantown, Mark (Julie) of Sheboygan Falls, Andrew (Dina) of Sheboygan Falls, Thomas (Laura) of Oconomowoc and Daniel (Jill) of Sheboygan Falls. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren: Gregg and Jacob Neuburg, Matthew (Barbara-Jean) and Nicholas Schleicher, Elizabeth (Luke) Gartman, Benjamin (Jena), William (Cassandra), Alex (Kaylee) and Timothy (Mary) Schleicher, Rebecca (Jason) Schwaller, Andrea (Matthew) Wegner, Lauren, Jessica, Tyler, Rachel, Brooke, Claire, Zachary, Mason and Max Schleicher; 15 great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Alison, Leo, Brianna, Daphne, Ethan, Shawn, Patrick, Aurora, Kendall, Landon, Levi, Lexi, Dominic and Jaxon; sister Elizabeth (Herb) Karls; sister-in-law Marilyn Schmitz; brother-in-law Jerome (Evelyn) Schleicher; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph, sons Gerard and Gregg Schleicher, great-grandson Bryan Schleicher, sister Sr. Kathleen Schmitz CSA, brother Willard Schmitz, brothers-in-law Anthony (Anna) Schleicher and Leo (Kathryn) Schleicher and sisters-in-law Angelina (Jacob) Mallinger and infants Marie and Marela Schleicher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with Father Bob Lotz officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. George Catholic Cemetery in the town of Wilson. The family will receive visitors at Wenig Funeral Home – Oostburg on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:00-7:00PM and again on Friday at the church from 10:00-11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Vincent DePaul, ALS Association or the Parkinson’s Association.
