Thomas Berlin

Sheboygan Falls

Thomas D. Berlin passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 73 years old.

Tom was born December 7, 1948 in Sheboygan, the oldest of three sons of Carl F. and Lydia (nee Klauser) Berlin.  He graduated from Kohler High School in 1967, and went on to study criminal justice at LTC. For 23 years, Tom worked for Kohler Police Department as an officer and later as a Sergeant. He then focused his attention on his business, TD Berlin Carpentry which he ran for nearly 15 years. Most recently, he co-owned MT Wooden Washtub with his wife, Marilyn.

On October 13, 1973 he was united in marriage with Bonnie Goetsch at Bethlehem Church in Sheboygan.  The couple shared 24 years together and had 3 children, before Bonnie preceded him in death on December 5, 1997. On June 9, 2007, he was united in marriage with Marilyn (nee Fieber) Walsh at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls.

Tom was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, and had belonged to the Kohler Fire Department, Kohler Police Athletic League, and was the President of the Sheboygan Falls “Second City Council”. He enjoyed woodworking, grilling, entertaining, sharing a drink and a laugh with friends at the Franklin House, his nightly rounds to check on his kids and loved a good chocolate chip cookie every night. Tom was the master of putzing and procrastinating, and was an avid lover of life and all those around him.

Tom is survived by his wife Marilyn and his children: Christopher (Rachel) Berlin of Kohler, Erin Berlin and Jennifer (Patrick) Lorenz, both of Sheboygan Falls. He is further survived by his step-children: Greg (Leah) Walsh of Naperville, IL and Sara Walsh of Cedar Grove; step-grandchildren: Ethan and Zachary Walsh; brothers: Carl “Weiner” Berlin and Mark “Sugar Bear”  (Linda) Berlin, both of Sheboygan Falls; mother-in-law Esther Goetsch of Sheboygan; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joseph Fieber of Minneapolis, MN, Phyllis (Terry) Gencius of Kewaunee, Joyce Kenealy of Hartford and Lynne (Grant) Mayer, Karen (Tom) Ruppel, Mike (Kathy) Lesicko and Jean (Jerry) Haese, all of Sheboygan; dear friends: Dave and Maggie Specht, Mark Melger, Speedy and Kelly; fur grandbabies Otis and Nellie; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie and sister-in-law Linda Brill.
