John Wenig

Licensed Funeral Director

Growing up on his family dairy farm in Chilton, Wisconsin, John’s values for family, service and community were instilled in him at a young age. Following the unexpected death of his father, while he was in high school, John began to take an interest in the lasting impression funeral service can have. After finishing his undergraduate work, he and taught Sales and Marketing at Stevens Point Area High School for five years. In 1982, John and Barbara’s oldest son, Andrew, died of childhood cancer. Following that death, John resigned from teaching and entered mortuary school. While working at two large funeral homes in Milwaukee and Indianapolis, he obtained extensive experience conducting funerals and helping families cope with a devastating loss. In 1991, John, Barb, and their family moved back to Wisconsin to purchase the funeral homes in Sheboygan Falls and Oostburg.

John is active in many local community, statewide and national organizations. He was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Funeral Directors Assoc. In 2005 he was elected President by his peers of the International Order of the Golden Rule—an invitation-only association for progressive and high-standard funeral homes.
