Obituary for Jeffrey F. Tempas

Jeffrey F. Tempas, 60, of Smithville, Tennessee, and formerly of Sheboygan Falls, was welcomed into heaven by his heavenly Father on May 7, 2018, following a long struggle with depression.

Jeff was born on May 15, 1957, in Sheboygan, the son of the late Fred and Eunice (Ackermann) Tempas. He was a 1975 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School and then received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Michigan Tech, graduating with honors in 1979.  Jeff worked as an engineer for the Kohler Co. for over 35 years before his retirement in 2016.  During that time he gained hundreds of patents for the company.

While living here, Jeff's passion was Camp Awana near Fredonia.  He was involved there for over 50 years starting as a camper at age 8.  In retirement he volunteered at Camp as their IT and maintenance man; he could fix anything.  He will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul always ready to help his friends and asking nothing in return.  He endeavored to model Christ in all that he did.

Jeff is survived by two sisters, Christine Tempas of Sheboygan Falls and Joyce (David) Alfery of Nashville, TN; three nieces, Allison Tempas of Nashville, TN, Janna (Dave) Larson of California, and Kim (Travis) Tingey of Nashville, TN; his cat Stevie and many friends.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will take place locally in September. Further details will be announced later.

A memorial fund is being established in his memory for Latham Christian Camping (Camp Awana) c/o Christine Tempas, 131 Cherry Street, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085.
