He was born December 29, 1940 to Floyd and Mary Bloomingdale. Tom was raised by his beloved foster parents John and Cornelia Winkelhorst of Cedar Grove. Tom was raised in the peaceful village of Cedar Grove and graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1959. He was a hardworking individual allowing him to achieve many awards for his accomplishments. He was the captain of the first Cedar Grove football team, varsity baseball team and was a sprinter in track and field events.

After high school he attended UW-Oshkosh graduating with a teaching degree in Biology. Later he attended UW-Milwaukee and earned a Master’s Degree in both Guidance and Administration.
